SoundGate Engineering

With technology advancing at such a breakneck pace, high-level engineers are needed to address all the issues that present themselves when integrating aftermarket equipment with factory electrical systems and databus networks.

At SoundGate's inception it was decided that only the best engineers would be utilized to create SoundGate product. To make this happen, SoundGate created a consortium of some of the most technically adept individuals and companies available.

For instance, many of our analog audio interfaces were designed by Van Wilson, a gentleman with decades of experience in the avionics and defense industries. Van's love of music and sound reproduction, combined with his genius in electronics engineering provided SoundGate with its original line of product in 1996. You'll see his work in our LOC4.2, LOC4.4, LOCB.2, and PWR1.4 interfaces.

When it comes to digital design expertise, SoundGate is fortunate to have some of the best engineers in the U.S. and England working to develop SoundGate product. To have product ready for European automobiles you need to have engineers working close to the countries where the vehicles are manufactured. Our partners in the UK employ a number of digital design experts and concentrate on developing solutions for vehicles manufactured outside of the United States.

A partnership with a second digital design team in the United States accounts for many SoundGate digital interfaces. They have developed our interfaces that allow factory radios to directly control Pioneer XM satellite radio receivers, and Kenwood Sirius Satellite Radio receivers. Their expertise is also evident in our GMCHIME, DIGISTAR, and DIGISTAR-X interfaces for General Motors vehicles.

When it comes to steering wheel control interfaces, SoundGate was the company that invented this category of product - way back in 1992. Originally sold exclusively to Crutchfield Corporation, this original interface, the GMSW1, spawned newer, more advanced units. SoundGate's REMOTE3 and REMOTE6, are the Industry's most sophisticated steering wheel control interfaces. The SoundGate REMOTE6 is a first for the industry, a fully digital design for the new General Motors vehicles with the Class 2 Serial data bus, and the late model Chrysler Corporation vehicles using the PCI bus.

As you can see, SoundGate has created a powerhouse of design expertise - partners with exceptional engineering capabilities all working toward the common goal of providing consumers with the options they desire for their new car or truck.
